New Balance Builds Bridges for NYC Marathon

Bridges — specifically, the iconic bridges that connect New York’s five boroughs — are the theme for New Balance’s footwear and apparel collection for the 2019 New Balance TCS New York City Marathon. With prints and patterns paying homage to the Pulaski, Willis Avenue, Verrazzano-Narrow, Queensboro and Madison Avenue Bridges (the latter two major elements of the marathon course), the apparel collection is available now. Footwear in the collection goes on sale Oct. 1; a marathon-exclusive edition of the Fresh Foam 1080v10, part of the brand’s new Fresh Foam X collection, will be available for sale at the marathon expo for $165.

Footwear models will include marathon editions of the $115 FuelCell Echo inspired by the nickname “the city that never sleeps”; the $145 860v10 inspired by New York's neon lights; and the $125 1500v6 with a knit upper.

“Over the last two years the official New Balance TCS New York City Marathon collection has celebrated the global attraction of the New York City Marathon and the wonderful diversity of this city. This year we further celebrate the things that bring us together, that connects the five boroughs of NYC — its bridges,” Deirdre Fitzgerald, New Balance EVP of Apparel, said in a statement. “There are bridges that connect runners and people all over the world and in New York City the bridges create the physical connection that is the 26.2 mile, five borough, TCS New York City Marathon course. The collection features graphics inspired by these five bridges, and the overall design reflects the positivity and connection that is synonymous with the world’s largest marathon.”
